DUSHANBE, November 17, 2010, Asia-Plus -- One Tajik tourist was killed and one other was injured on November 16 as their motorcycle ran into the concrete guard rail in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.
According to some Egyptian media, the motorcycle went into oncoming traffic and ran into the concrete guard rail. One of Tajik tourists died on the spot, while another one sustained various injuries and was taken to local hospital.
Davlat Nazriyev, the head of the Tajik MFA information department, says those Tajik nationals traveled to Egypt by tourist visas from the Russian Federation.
“The Tajik citizen that was killed in the accident was identified as the 30-year-old Mukhtor Atakhanov,” said the Tajik MFA spokesman, “The Tajik Embassy in Cairo is currently conducting negotiations with one of Egyptian insurance companies on conveying Atakhanov’s body to Tajikistan. The medical treatment of the Tajik national that was injured in that accident will also be financed by the Egyptian insurance company.”
