DUSHANBE, February 7, Asia-Plus -- The board of the Islamic Revival Party (IRP) has met over today morning’s attack on Hikmatullo Sayfullozoda, member of the IRP board also editor-in-chief of the party’s mouthpiece Najot .
According to IRP’s head office in Dushanbe, the party board has applied to law enforcement authorities with solicitation to take measures to detain persons who severely beat Sayfulozoda. “A special statement on this subject will be released tomorrow,” the source said.
He added that the IRP leader also member of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) Muhiddin Kabiri was currently in Istanbul, Turkey to attend the International Forum for Islamic Parliamentarians.
We will recall that Hikmatullo Sayfullozoda was found severely beaten near his house in Dushanbe today morning.
The IRP deputy chairman Umarali Hisaynov has told Asia-Plus that Hikmatullo Sayfulozoda was taken to the National Medical Center. “Sayfullozoda is now in serious condition,” he said. Hisaynov added that according to Sayfullzoda’s relatives two unknown persons have shadowed him over the past three days.
“Neighbors say that today morning, when Sayfullozoda went out of entrance unknown person came up to him and they went towards thick bushes where three other persons were waiting for them,” said Hisaynov, “Later, Sayfullozoda was found severely beaten and taken to hospital.” He refrained from commenting on the incident.
