Unsettled weather followed by torrential rain is expected to hit the country within the next three days that may lead to landslides, mudslides and floods, the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense (CES) under the Government of Tajikistan reported on March 29.
Torrential rains, strong wind and thunderstorms are expected to hit the country with the next few days. Torrential rains are expected to hit flatlands and snowfalls are expected to hit mountain areas.
Besides, there is risk of rise in level of waters in Qizilsou, Yahsou and Obihingob rivers as well as in rivers located on slopes of the Gissar Range, CES said.
There is threat of avalanches, mudslides and rockfalls along mountain highways, the source added.
