An international education exhibition that was scheduled to take place two days opened in Dushanbe Saturday morning.

Police dispersed participants of the exhibition straight after it kicked off, Ms. Manzoura Jourayeva, the head of the Multikid Company, which organized the exhibition, wrote on her Facebook page.

According to her, the company got all necessary documents giving permission to carry out the education exhibition dedicated to the Year of Youth in Tajikistan, “but they meanly prohibited the exhibition.” 

“Ten representatives of different countries have been invited to participate in the exhibition.  Students and the parents who came to the exhibition from all regions of Tajikistan as well as foreign guests have been dispersed and video and photo materials have been destroyed,” Ms. Jourayeva noted.  

Manzoura Jourayeva has offered apologies to all those who were going to attend the exhibition, especially to more than 500 school leavers registered for the entrance examinations.

The Interior Ministry has not yet given its comments on this incident.

More than ten foreign universities, colleges, schools and linguistic centers from the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, Cyprus, Poland, Belarus, China, South Korea, the Czech Republic and Malaysia have reportedly been invited to participate in the exhibition.
