Two teens were killed in two accidents in Sughd’s Panjakent city and Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO)’s Vanj district.

A 16-year-old teenager from the Moghiyon jamoat subordinate to the city of Panjakent was killed by a lightning strike on July 13 while pasturing cattle, according to the Emergencies Committee under the Government of Tajikistan.

“His body was found near the Onasang Mount on July 14,” Umeda Yusufi, a spokeswoman for the Emergencies Committee, told Asia-Plus in an interview.  

Another fatal accident reportedly occurred on the same day in GBAO’s Vanj district.  A 12-year-old teen drowned in a river. 

According to data from the Emergencies Committee, 41 people, including 12 teens under the age of 6, have drowned in water reservoirs this year.
