State of health of the Minister of Transport Khudoyor Khudoyorzoda has been improving and he has been transferred to a regular ward, a representative of the Ministry of Transport told Asia-Plus in an interview Friday afternoon.
According to him, Khudoyorzoda can already independently go out to relatives and friends who come to visit him.
“We, employees of the Ministry of Transport, are coming to visit him every day, but we are not allowed to see him. However, we learned from his family members that his condition has improved and he can already walk on his own,” the Transport Ministry representative said.
Recall, Tajikistan's Minister of Transport Khudoyor Khudoyorzoda was hospitalized on August 11 after what Tajik authorities in the Central Asian former Soviet republic say was an attempted suicide.
“On August 11 at around 5:00 am, the Minister of Transport Khudoyor Khudoyorzoda tried to commit suicide by stabbing himself with a kitchen knife following family conflict. Finding out what happened, his wife A. Qalandarova, his son Nekrouz Khudoyorov, his daughter Zainoura Khudoyrova, his daughter-in-law Gulniso Sufishoyeva and other members of the family saved him by calling for an ambulance and providing him with first aid until emergency medical workers arrived,” reads a statement posted on the website of the Prosecutor-General’s Office.
A statement from the Prosecutor-General's Office did not specify details about the family argument it said Khudoyorzoda had been involved in.
Authorities said an investigation has been launched into the incident.
According to Radio Liberty’s Tajik Service, known locally as Radio Ozodi, Khudoyorzoda was taken to a medical facility with two stab wounds in the stomach.
