On the evening of April 8, a fire broke out in a 12-story residential building in Dushanbe’s Shohmansour district, the Emergencies Committee under the Government Tajikistan reported.
“As a result of the incident, six people were evacuated, including a three-month-old infant and four women. No injured was reported,” the statement says.
According to the Emergencies Committee, the fire was reported to the duty officer at 19:29. A fire broke out in an apartment on the eighth floor of a building located at 18 Husseinzoda Street. The fire quickly spread to the ninth floor.
"Firefighting units from the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs' fire service and rescue teams from the Emergencies Committee were sent to the scene. Emergency services quickly organized the evacuation of residents from the affected floors," the statement notes.
The fire was localized and extinguished. The exact time is not specified.
Specialists are investigating the causes of the fire and the extent of the damage.
The Emergencies Committee urges citizens to strictly follow fire safety measures, especially in households — do not leave electrical appliances unattended and monitor the condition of electrical networks and gas equipment.
