DUSHANBE, October 11, Asia-Plus -- Customs officers at the Khujand airport have warded off an attempt by drug courier to transport more than 20 kilograms of heroin to the Russian Federation, Asia-Plus has learned at Tajikistan’s Customs Service.
Tuesday morning, an inspection of passengers on the flight Khujand-Moscow found heroin hidden in a luggage belonging to the Sughd resident.
A criminal case has been instituted on drug trafficking charges and an investigation is under way.
In the meantime, customs officers seized more than four kilograms of heroin at the Dushanbe airport on October 9, press service of the Tajik Customs Service told Asia-Plus yesterday afternoon.
This batch of heroin were confiscated from the 33-year-old woman of Dushanbe.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against her and an investigation is under way.
