DUSHANBE, November 22, Asia-Plus -- Resident of the Nourobod district, eastern Tajikistan has been detained on suspicion of having killed family of local resident Mahmadov, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
The source at a MoI said that according to the preliminary investigation, Okhunov and his buddy Taqdirsho Rajabzoda on the night of November 11 burst into the house of the 26-year-old Zikriyo Mahmadov. Okhunov shot Zikriyo, his wife and mother to death. “The one-and-a-half-year-old son of Zikriyo, who got three wounds, survived by a miracle,” the source said, adding that Rajabzoda was also arrested.
He said that in the 1990s, Okhunov was member of the armed group of Mullo Abdullo, one of field commanders of the former United Tajik Opposition (UTO).
The source further added that investing this case, police found the trace of another criminal. “Officer from the Nourobod police directorate Qadim Raqibov was detained on suspicion of having been involved in this crime, but the investigation did not prove his complicity in the crime,” said the source, “However, when searching his house, police officers found 1.7 kilograms of marijuana, firearms and ammunition.” As it turned out, Raqibov was also member of the armed group of Mullo Abdullo in 1996-2000.
