QURGHON TEPPA, July 28, 2008, Asia-Plus -- Two residents of Khatlon’s Danghara district have been sentenced to on year’s corrective labor each for unauthorized seizure of lands, according to the Dangahra prosecutor’s office.
A court in the Danghara district on July 25 ruled that Sobir Alikhonov and Hofiz Rahimov be given one year’s corrective labor each with 20 percent of their wages garnished for unauthorized seizure of lands.
“Despite numerous warnings and fines imposed on them, Alikhonov and Rahimov did not return the lands, and therefore, the court sentenced them to one year’s corrective labor each with 20 percent of their wages garnished,” the prosecutor said.
According to him, over the first six months of this year, the prosecutor’s office has made protests against 23 decisions of local jamoats on allotment of lands for housing.
