KULOB, September 20, 2008, Asia-Plus  -- The Kulob prosecutor’s office has instituted criminal proceedings against a 24-year-old Saymumin Sherov, resident of the village of Somon in the Pakhtakor jamoat, Khatlon’ Kulob district.  

According to Safar Shodiyev, an investigator with the Kulob prosecutor’s office, Sherov faces rape charge.  “On September 15, Sherov lured his neighbor, 26-year-old woman, into his car under false preferences and sexually assaulted her; next morning, the young woman told her mother what happened,” the investigator said. 

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Sherov under the provisions of Article 138, Part 2 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – rape, and an investigation is under way.
