DUSHANBE, September 10, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Two servicemen of Russian military base deployed in Tajikistan have been detained on suspicion of having killed a taxi driver.
Mahmadullo Asadulloyev, a spokesman for the Ministry of Interior (MoI), told Asia-Plus Thursday afternoon that two servicemen of Russian military base 201 – Dmitry Kuchma and Vyacheslav Chernov – were detained in Khatlon’s Khuroson district on September 9 on suspicion of having killed a tax driver.
According to him, the killing was committed in Dushanbe in August this year. Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the Russian servicemen under the provisions of Article 104 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – killing.
The command of the military base has been informed of the arrest of the servicemen, the spokesman said.
