DUSHANBE, October 6, 2009, Asia-Plus -- In January-August 2009, 10,019 crimes have been registered in Tajikistan, which is 10.8 percent more than in the same period of last year (9,044 crimes were registered in Jan-Aug 08), Prosecutor General Bobojon Bobokhonov announced at a news conference in Dushanbe today.
According to him, the number of serious crimes such as killing and illicit drug trafficking has increased over the report period.
Over the same nine-month period, prosecutors have issued arrest warrants for 2,211 people (in Jan-Aug 2008, 1,091 arrest warrants were issued).
Over the first nine months of this year, prosecutors carried out preliminary investigation into 1,550 crimes, Tajik chief prosecutor noted.
