DUSHANBE, September 30, 2015, Asia-Plus – The Interior Ministry says it has received new complaints from citizens against lawyer Buzurgmehr Yorov, who was detained on September 28.
According to the Interior Ministry’s website, Yorov and Badrididn Toirov in 2009 took 7,000 U.S. dollars from Behrouz Khojiyev promising to decide the matter of partition of property in his favor.
But they reportedly spent the money for their needs and did not provide any legal assistance to Khojiyev.
Besides, Buzurgmehr Yorov in 2013 took 2,800 U.S. dollars from Ms. Dilbar Melikulova from the Fayzobod promising to decide the civil dispute in her favor but did not carry out his promise, the Interior Ministry’s website says.
Criminal proceedings have reportedly been instituted over these facts and an investigation is under way.
We will recall that according to information posted on the Interior Ministry’s website on September 29, Yorov in July 2010 took 4,000 U.S. dollars from Komiljon Bozorov, resident of the northern city of Istaravshan, promising to release from responsibility his son Dilshod Bozorov, who is charged with murder.
Buzurgmehr Yorov is reportedly also charged with forging the motor vehicle registration card.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Yorov under the provisions of two articles of Tajikistan’s Penal Code: Article 140 – fraud; and Article 340 – document forgery.
Meanwhile, Yorov’s colleagues consider that the detention of Buzurgmehr Yorov is politically motivated, because he has agreed to defend several leading members of the Islamic Revival Party (IRP) who were arrested in Dushanbe on September 16 on suspicion of being directly involved into the recent mutiny''s masterminding.
