DUSHANBE, May 17, 2016, Asia-Plus – Two residents of Dushanbe have got long jail terms for corruption.
A court in Dushanbe’s Ismoil Somoni has considered criminal proceedings instituted against Tojinisso Kholova and Islom, who is also known under the nickname of “Polkovnik” (Colonel), and they have been sentenced to eight years in prison each. They will serve their terms in a minimum-security penal colony.
The sentence has followed their conviction on charges of a large-scale fraud (Article 247 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code).
Tojinisso Kholova and Islom in February-November 2012 reportedly took 14,000 U.S. dollars from F.H. Chiniyev promising to place his acquaintance into Tajik State Medical University.
