A student of Tajik University of Commerce has got a lengthy jail term for killing his fellow student.
The Dushanbe city court sentenced Ubaidullo Qurbonov to 24 years in prison at the end of the last week.
The sentence followed his conviction on charge of murder. Qurbonov will service his jail term in a high-security penal colony.
The deputy head of the Dushanbe city court, Asomiddin Bobokhonzda, who presided over the trial, says the incident took place in the morning of October 8 this year at around 7:40 am on the Borbad Street.
Qurbonov reportedly inflicted a stab wound on Dilmurod Fozilov following quarrel. Dilmurod died on the spot.
Criminal proceedings were instituted against Ubaidull Qurbonov under the provisions of two articles of Tajikistan’s Penal Code: Article 104 – murder; and Article 237 – hooliganism.
