More than 70 kilograms of heroin have been seized by customs officers and law enforcement officers of Sughd province at the border crossing point (BCP) “Fotehobod” on the Tajik-Uzbek border in Sughd’s Mastchoh district, the Customs Service under the Government of Tajikistan says. 

Inspection of truck Mercedes Benz Actros-184 with Schmitz SKO 24 on November 21 reportedly found 65 packages of narcotic drug that tested positive to heroin weighing 71.110 kilograms.

The truck is registered in the Russian Federation and its driver is Tajik citizen Mehrovar Bouriyev, 31, resident of Istaravshan district in Sughd province. 

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against him under the provisions of two articles of Tajikistan’s Penal Code: Article 200 (4) – large scale drug trafficking; and Article 289 (3) -- smuggling, illegal movement across the customs border of Tajikistan.  An investigation is under way.
