DUSHANBE, April 7, 2011, Asia-Plus -- On Wednesday April 6, Tajikistan’s Ambassador to Turkey Farrukh Sharifov met in Ankara with Faruk Celik, State Minister of Turkey also co-chairman of the Tajik-Turkish Economic Commission, the Tajik MFA information department reported.
The two discussed a broad range of issue related to state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Turkey.
Tajik diplomat declared for further expansion of mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, intensification of work of the Tajik-Turkish economic commission, launch of joint ventures in Tajikistan for processing farm produce, extracting mineral resources.
He also informed Turkish minister of investment projects being implemented in Tajikistan, development of tourism and relevant industries in the country, implementation of Central Asia South Asia Electricity Trade and Transmission Project (CASA 1000), etc.
Mr. Celik, for his part, expressed interest in a number of investment projects for enhancement of mining, energy sectors as well as processing of cotton fiber, production of aluminum and development of tourism industry in Tajikistan.
He noted that the Turkish side was interested in further expansion of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation with Tajikistan in the mentioned fields and intensification of activity of the intergovernmental economic commission, the source said.
The Tajik-Turkish Economic Commission was established in 2000 and it has held seven meetings to date.
