DUSHANBE, September 16, Asia-Plus -- On Thursday September 15, Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi received Mr. Pierre Morel, the European Union Special Representative for Central Asia and Mr. Eduard Auer, Ambassador, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Tajikistan.
According to the Tajik MFA information department, the EU special envoy for Central Asia reportedly informed Tajik minister of his activity in the region. Morel, in particular, informed Zarifi of his working trips to Kyrgyzstan and shared his vision of the situation in that country.
Zarifi, for his part, noted that as the nearest neighbor, Tajikistan was interested in stable and calm situation in that country. He also informed the EU envoy of the situation in the region and Tajikistan’s relations with neighboring countries.
Zarifi also touched upon the issue of Tajikistan’s admission to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
The sides also discussed recent developments in Afghanistan. Tajik minister expressed hope that a conference on Afghanistan that will take place in December this year in Bonn will yield positive results, the source said.
