DUSHANBE, October 27, 2011, Asia-Plus -- The Islamic Revival Party (IRP) deputy chairman Saidumar Husaini, who is also deputy of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament), yesterday met here with representatives of the U.S. Department of State Eugene B. Rumer, Kelly Kivler and Mark Hendy, according to IRP’s head office in Dushanbe.
The sides reportedly discussed recent changes in the Arab countries and the current situation in Afghanistan.
The Department of State representatives noted that some media outlets connected changes taking place in the Arab countries with activities of the United States. According to them, it is exaggeration. “The United States does not have such opportunities,” they said.
The IRP deputy leader noted that it had been wrong to bring the NATO troops into Afghanistan. “However, the question arises is conflict occurring between the Pashtuns, the ethnic Tajiks and the ethnic Uzbeks in Afghanistan after withdrawal of the NATO troops from there?”
Husaini noted that all ethnic groups living in Afghanistan were supporters of territorial integrity of Afghanistan and were against foreign interference in Afghanistan’s domestic affairs.
He also strongly rejected the assumption of dividing Afghanistan into several parts, the source noted.
