On Thursday, April 26, Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon accepted credentials from British Ambassador to Tajikistan Robin Jeremy Ord-Smith and new Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Tajikistan Abbosali Karim ogly Gasanov.

Following the official ceremony President Rahmon and British Ambassador Robin Jeremy Ord-Smith discussed Tajik-British bilateral cooperation, Tajik President’s press service reports. President Rahmon expressed satisfaction with current condition of relations between the two countries and said that the Great Britain is one of Tajikistan’s main strategic partners in Europe.

“We are interested in further expansion of many-sided and mutually beneficial cooperation with the Great Britain,” President stressed.

The sides also expressed satisfaction with level of cooperation in the field of security in Central Asia, namely in the frameworks of joint counter-terrorist efforts in Afghanistan.

Robin Jeremy Ord-Smith thanked President Rahmon and the Tajik people for active support to NATO forces in Afghanistan.

Ambassador promised to make all possible efforts to attract British investments to the republic. The sides have agreed to expand bilateral cooperation and develop legal environment and signed a series of new documents.

In the course of his meeting with Azerbaijani Ambassador the sides have discussed current level and perspectives of bilateral cooperation. The sides have expressed their confidence that recent session of the Tajik-Azerbaijani intergovernmental commission, which was held in Dushanbe, will contribute to the development of cooperation between the two countries.
