DUSHANBE, September 13, 2012, Asia-Plus -- On Tuesday September 11, Tajik Ambassador to the United States Nouriddin Shamsov met in Washington with U.S. Congressman Joseph R. Pitts.
According to the Tajik MFA information department, Ambassador Shamsov conveyed the Tajik leadership’s empathy towards the U.S. authorities over the September 11, 2011, terror attacks.
Tajik diplomat reportedly also informed the U.S. congressman of Tajikistan’s initiatives on providing regional security and reconstructing Afghanistan’s economy.
The two also considered issues related to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the United States in implementing projects for enhancement of Tajikistan’s energy sector, construction of roads in Tajikistan, expansion of inter-parliamentary ties and further democratization of Tajik, the source said.
