DUSHANBE, September 23, 2013, Asia-Plus -- A military parade is expected to be held in Dushanbe on the occasion of the 2013 presidential inauguration, according to the Ministry of defense (MoD).

An official source at a MoD says more than 7,000 servicemen will march in mid-November after a ceremonial event marking the commencement of a new seven-year term of a president of Tajikistan.

“Preparations for the military parade are under way,” said the source.  “Tajik Defense Minister, Colonel-General Sherali Khairulloyev, and Commander of the Dushanbe Garrison, Major-General Latif Fayziyev, will command the parade.

We will recall that campaigning for Tajikistan''s presidential election has officially started and as of September 17, officially registered political parties and two national social organizations are allowed to forward their candidates for the presidency.  Candidates reportedly have 25 days to complete registration requirements.

The presidential election is scheduled for November 6.

To-date, six candidates have been nominated to run in the 2013 presidential election: incumbent President Emomali Rahmon (his candidacy was supported by the Union of Youth of Tajikistan (UYT); Mr. Abduhalim Ghafforov (the Socialist Party of Tajikistan (SPT); Mr. Tolibek Bukhoriyev (the Agrarian Party of Tajikistan (APT); Mr. Saidjaffar Ismonov (the Democratic Party of Tajikistan (DPT); Ms. Oynihol Bobonazarova (the Tajik Association of Reformist Forces (TARF); and Mr. Olimjon Boboyev (The Party of Economic Reforms of Tajikistan).
