DUSHANBE, May 29, 2014, Asia-Plus – Ukrainian Ambassador to Tajikistan, Mr. Viktor Nikityuk, says that tragic events that are taking place in Ukraine have affected a two-way trade between Ukraine and Tajikistan.
Speaking at a press conference in Dushanbe, Ambassador Nikityuk noted on May 28 that the sides must work seriously in order to expand the trade ties.
“We have all necessary mechanisms for that; we have the intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation,” said Ukrainian diplomat. “We hope these mechanisms will work and all necessary measures will be taken to expand trade ties between our countries.”
According to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, a two-way trade between Tajikistan and Ukraine over the first four months of this year has valued at US$18.5 million, which is 20.3 percent fewer than in the same period last year. This consisted of Tajikistan’s exports to Ukraine estimated at US$203,000 and Tajikistan’s imports from Ukraine worth US$18.3 million.
