DUSHANBE, June 9, 2014, Asia-Plus – Chairman of Tajikistan’s upper house (Majlisi Milli) of parliament Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, who is also Mayor of Dushanbe, today morning left for France at the invitation of the French Senate (France’s upper chamber of parliament).

“Ubaidulloyev’s visit to France will last till June 13 and he is scheduled to hold talks with President of the Senate of France Jean-Pierre Bel and members of the French Senate Andre Dule (chairman of the France-Central Asia Friendship Group) and Ives Pozzo de Borgo (deputy chairman of the France-Tajikistan Friendship Group) to discuss issues related to expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation between Tajikistan and France,” Shavkat Saidov, an aide to the Majlisi Milli speaker, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

The Senate is the upper house of the Parliament of France, presided over by a president.  Indirectly elected by elected officials, it represents territorial collectivities of the Republic and French citizens living abroad.

“While in Paris, Ubaidulloyev will also visit Itron France and meet with its top manager Pasqual Michodel (phonetically spelled) to discuss establishment of joint venture in Dushanbe for installation and repair of water meters,” Shavkat Saidov said.
