DUSHANBE, August 8, 214, Asia-Plus - Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov will pay a working visit to Tajikistan from September 11-12.
Turkmen leader will visit Tajikistan as an honorable guest of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, who is the rotating chairman of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
During the visit, Turkmen leader will hold talks with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon to discuss the progress of implementation of agreements reached between their countries.
It will be the second visit of Turkmen president to Tajikistan this year.
This year, Turkmenistan''s President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov paid a two-day visit to Dushanbe on May 5-6 to discuss with President Emomali Rahmon possible investment by Turkmenistan in Tajikistan''s energy and transportation sectors, as well as other strategic sectors of Tajikistan''s economy. Joint efforts on a project to build a new railway that would link the two countries by passing through Afghanistan were also discussed. Rahmon and Berdymukhammedov also discussed regional security after the withdrawal of NATO-led forces from Afghanistan at the end of 2014. The visit resulted in signing of nine cooperation documents. It was Berdymukhammedov''s first visit to Tajikistan since 2010.
Tajik President Emomali Rahmon traveled to Turkmenistan''s capital, Ashgabat, twice in 2013 for talks with Berdymukhammedov.
