EU envoy meets with Tajik president to discuss EU-Tajikistan cooperation issues

, March 15, Asia-Plus - Jan Kubic, European Union special representative for
Central Asia
, met with Tajik President Emomali Rahmonov in
Dushanbe
on March 15, presidential press service reported.
In the course of the talks the two discussed state and prospects of further expansion of cooperation between
Tajikistan
and the European Union. The discussion focused on bilateral cooperation with an emphasis on the need to boost trade ties.
According to information from presidential press service, the EU envoy arrived in
Dushanbe
yesterday for a working visit.
Igor Sattarov, a spokesman for MFA, has told Asia-Plus that Mr. Kubic is also scheduled to hold talks with Foreign Minister Talbak Nazarov and Chairman of the Committee for Protection of the State Border of Tajikistan Saydamir Zuhurov today.
On September 17, EU special representative for
Central Asia
will leave for
Istanbul
for working visit, according to the MFA spokesman.
