DUSHANBE, March 31, Asia-Plus -- On March 30, the Government of Tajikistan passed a resolution appointing Sharifkhon Samiyev, formerly chairman of the Firdavsi district of Dushanbe, chairman of the “Barqi Tojik” (Tajik electric systems) open joint-stock holding company.
As it had been reported earlier, President Rahmonov Tuesday [March 28] signed a decree withdrawing the “Barqi Tojik” company from the Ministry of Energy.
According to information from the Energy Ministry source, the company was withdrawn from the ministry following demands of international financial institutions on liquidation of monopoly in Tajikistan’s energy sector. In future, the issue of restructuring the “Barqi Tojik” will be considered and after that several enterprises will be established on the basis of the company, according to the Energy Ministry source.
