DUSHANBE, December 20, Asia-Plus - Issues related to expansion of economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Norway were major topics of President Rahmonov’s discussions with Norwegian Ambassador to Tajikistan Owen Nordsletten in Dushanbe on December 20.
After the meeting with Rahmonov, Norwegian diplomat speaking to journalists pointed to the significance of development of hydropower sector for Tajikistan. He noted that his country could be reliable partner of Tajikistan in development of its energy sector. Nordsletten outlined hydropower, cotton production and tourism as areas of which could drive the bilateral cooperation between Norway and Tajikistan. “We should develop our contacts and bring our relations to qualitatively new level,” Norwegian Ambassador stressed.
On an agreement between Tajik Aluminum Plant (TadAZ) and Norway’s Hydro Aluminium that was signed in Dushanbe today, he stressed that the agreement opens good prospects for further expansion of economic cooperation between the two countries.
Hydro Aluminium is the third largest integrated aluminum company world wide. In Norway, Hydro has plants in Rjukan, Porsgrunn, Vennesla, Kamoy, Hoyanger, Ardal, Sunndalsora, Holmestrand, magnor and Ruufoss. The corporation also has plants abroad.
