DUSHANBE, May 5, Asia-Plus -- A festive reception for veterans of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1955 on occasion of the Victory Day will be held at the Dushanbe mayor’s office today.
During the meeting, the veterans will receive 350 somonis in extraordinary grants each.
According to the mayor’s office, 439 veterans currently live in Dushanbe. The youngest of them is 80.
Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor, said that those veterans who will not be able to attend the reception will receive the grants at their homes.
The extraordinary grants will also be handed to persons equated with war veterans (rear labor veterans, Chernobyl cleanup operation participants, etc) as well as the spouses of the servicemen who died in that war.
