Dushanbe, February 14, Asia-Plus -- Preparation for spring sowing campaign and a progress of introduction of a new mechanism of financing farming units were focus of a meeting held by President Emomali Rahmon on February 13, presidential press service said.
The meeting participants included senior representatives from the government, president’s office, relevant ministries and organizations.
During the meeting it was noted that cotton-growing farms had to date concluded loan agreements with banks for a total of 90 million somonis. The farms have to date received 43 million somonis.
The government alone has provided 110 million somonis for providing loans to farmers and the remaining necessary funds are provided by banks themselves and international financial institutions, presidential press service said.
The president set concrete tasks on providing the cotton-growing farms with seeds, fuel, mineral fertilizers, and agricultural machines as well as speeding up work on ploughing farmland, preparing pump stations, etc.
