DUSHANBE, May 8, Asia-Plus -- President Emomali Rahmon today congratulated war veterans and the whole people of Tajikistan on the 63rd anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
In his message, posted on presidential website, the head of state named a Victory Day one of the most important dates in history of humanity, and “significance and greatness of these dates are increasing year in.”
The president stressed that the Victory Day is dear to the whole mankind, including residents of Tajikistan. “The Victory Day is a symbol of patriotism, adherence to duty, and staunch will of our peoples,” Rahmon said.
“Annual celebration of the Victory Day, admiration for heroic deeds of war veterans and labor heroism of workers of the home front are good tradition,” said the president. “The Victory Day also sets us realizing that peace, security, and calm life are great values and we should be ready for protecting them.”
He noted that at present, when global threats such as international terrorism and extremism are facing humanity “it takes on special significance.” “And as the peoples of the world overpowered fascism, these threats can be removed by joint efforts,” Rahmon stressed.
The head of state noted that peoples cannot make progress without unity and mutual understanding. “And heroic example of our fathers and grandfathers is evidence of this, and their heroic deeds for Motherland will remain in memories of their descendants,” said Rahmon. “Defeat of fascism is the highest manifestation of friendship, unity and historic services of the whole peoples of the former Soviet Union.”
