DUSHANBE, March 25, 2009, Asia-Plus -- An official opening of a five-star Hyatt Regency Dushanbe Hotel was held on March 21 and President Emomali Rahmon attended the hotel-opening ceremony.
Speaking at the inaugurating ceremony, the president noted that introduction of the Hyatt Regency Hotel Dushanbe into operation signified a new direction of cooperation between Tajikistan, Russia and Turkey.
According to him, the hotel will give an impulse to development of tourism in the country. “With support of foreign investors we are currently working actively on development of tourism and relevant industries in the country. Such projects are the focus of our attention and all necessary conditions will be created for timely implementation of them,” the president said, noting that the government had already passed resolutions on providing customs and tax preferences.
Some 600 million somoni were used for construction of the hotel and more than 1,200 people, with 85 percent o them being Tajik nationals, participated in the construction of the hotel, the president said. He added that 500 residents of the country would be placed in jobs at the Hyatt Regency Dushanbe Hotel.
We will recall that the company Russkiye Oteli (Russian Hotels) has invested in the construction of the Dushanbe Hyatt Regency Hotel and its affiliate – the limited liability company Sozidaniye – has acted as contractor. The general contractor for this project is ENKA Insaat Ve Sanayi A.Sh.
The work on the hotel began in summer 2005. The architectural concept has been worked out by Seattle’s NBBJ in cooperation with Istanbul’s HAS Architects Ltd. The construction of the hotel officially commenced on March 1, 2006.
Hyatt Regency Dushanbe features 202 well-appointed guestrooms and suites. All feature an LCD television, an in-room safe, a work desk with high-speed broadband Internet connectivity, a multi-line telephone with voice mail, and tea- and coffee-making facilities.
The company “Russkiye Oteli” was founded in September 2004 for managing investment projects on the commercial real estate market. Over the past period, the company has implemented a number of investment projects in Yerevan (Armenia), Tbilisi (Georgia), Novosibirsk, Abakan and Sochi.
An operational management of the hotel will be conducted by the international corporation Hyatt – international operator, under brand of which 215 hotels function in 44 countries across the world.
The same day, President Rahmon also attended a groundbreaking ceremony for construction of a 20-story business center, Dushanbe-Plazza, in the center of Dushanbe, the Roudaki Avenue and the Bukhor Street crossing.
