DUSHANBE, November 11, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Issues related to cooperation between the parliaments of Tajikistan and the United Kingdom were a major topic of a meeting of Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament), Mr. Sayudllo Khairulloyev, with the British Ambassador to Tajikistan, Mr. Trevor Moore, which was held in Dushanbe on November 10, Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, said.
According to him, the sides also discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Great Britain.
During the meeting, Tajik speaker noted that the lower house of Tajik parliament had set up working groups for cooperation with parliaments of many countries and proposed to set up such a working group for cooperation with the British parliament.
Khairulloyev noted that he was glad that a group of British parliamentarians would arrive in Tajikistan in the near future. He expressed confidence that the visit would give a new impulse to further development of relations between Tajikistan and the United Kingdom, Sultonov said.
