President Emomali Rahmon, who is also the Head of the Government, yesterday shook up a number of regional administrators.
The Tajik president’s official website says that in accordance with Article of the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On the Local Self-Government”, Emomali Rahmon agreed to the appointment of Sharifkhon Safarzoda, who had previously served as Chairman of Varzob District, to the post of First Deputy Chairperson of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).
Sharifkhon Safarzoda had served as Chairman of Varzob District since July 25, 2022. Prior to this he had served as First Deputy Chairman of Dushanbe’s Ismoili Somoni District.
Khusrav Damonzoda, formerly Deputy Chairman of Dushanbe’s Sino District, was appointed acting Chairman of Varzob District.
Muhtadi Majidi was relieved of his post of Chairman of Khovaling District of Khatlon Province in connection with transfer to another job.
Muzaffar Mirzozoda, who had previously served as First Deputy Minister of Agriculture, was appointed acting Chairman of Khovaling district.
The post of First Deputy Minister of Agriculture is still vacant.
