President Emomali Rahmon has introduced staff changes to the Main Border Guard Directorate of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS), according to the Tajik president’s official website.   

By president’s decree issued on December 22 Salomatsho Mirzozod was relieved of his post of Chief of the Higher Border Guard Institute in connection with transfer to another job. 

By another president’s decree Hikmatullo Pirakzoda, who had previously served as First Deputy Head of the Main Border Guard Directorate also Chief of the SCNS Border Troops, was appointed to head the Higher Border Guard Institute.

Rajab Murodali was appointed as First Deputy Head of the Main Border Guard Directorate also Chief of the SCNS Border Troops.  

President Emomali Rahmon received the newly appointed border guard officers on the same day.  

The Tajik president’s official website says that during a meeting, Rahmon mentioned the current complicated and unpredictable situation in the region and the world, and assessed Tajikistan’s border troops as a reliable shield in ensuring the safety of the society and the main force for preventing any actions that disturb the peaceful life of the people.

The head of state stressed that in performing this duty, every officer of this institution must manifest honesty, high professional skills, dedication to the nation and the state, and mental and physical readiness to ensure national aspirations and an atmosphere of security and peace.

Prevention of any manifestations of extremism, terrorism, smuggling of weapons, drugs, goods and products, which are dangerous for society, mandatory compliance with military regulations, ensuring full control of the state border, provision of necessary military equipment and supplies, regular military exercises and raising the level of technical knowledge of officers and soldiers of the units of the Border Troops reportedly were among the main topics of conversation.
