KULOB, January 31, 2011, Asia-Plus -- In 2011, Tajik law enforcement authorities and border guards seized 479.6 kilograms of narcotics in Shouroobod district, Khatlon province.
The Shouroobod district chairman Amirkhon Ikromov says 223 kilograms of narcotics were seized by police officers and the remainder by border guards.
Over the report period, law enforcement officers and border guards seized 21 weapons, including four assault rifles Kalashnikov, in the district, Ikromov added.
It is to be noted that the Shouroobod area is the most vulnerable part of Tajikistan’s common border with Afghanistan.
