DUSHANBE, February 24, 2011, Asia-Plus -- A large arms cache has been discovered in Roudaki district, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
The source at a MoI says police officers discovered the arms cache, containing one assault rifle Kalashnikov, one hunting gun K-16, one ‘Mukha’ disposable grenade launcher and several shells, on the outskirts of the village of Teppai Samarqandi yesterday, while combing neighboring hills.
It is to be noted that a training camp of the Ministry of Defense (MoD) is located not far from the Teppa Samarqandi village.
According to the MoI data, 266 firearms, including 60 assault rifles, 45 pistols, 38 rifles, 33 grenade launchers, as well as 179 explosives and large amount of bullets of different caliber have been confiscated or voluntarily handed over to police stations across the country since the beginning of this year.
