DUSHANBE, February 25, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Officers from the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) have seized a large consignment of narcotic drug in Varzob district.
Nozirjon Bouriyev, a spokesman for SCNS, told Asia-Plus that operation carried out by security officers on February 24 led to the seizure of 80 kilograms of narcotic drug in Varzob.
“Some 22 kilograms of heroin, 34 kilograms of hashish and 24 kilograms of raw opium were found hidden in a heavy truck KAMAZ,” said the spokesman, “Three alleged drug peddlers were arrested, but their names are not disclosed in the interest of investigation.”
In January 2011, Tajik law enforcement authorities seized some 600 kilograms of narcotics. A totaled included more than 42 kilograms of heroin, some 68 kilograms of hashish and more than 528 kilograms of cannabis.
