DUSHANBE, May 17, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Dushanbe police here yesterday raided a drug den, arrested five persons and recovered nearly eight kilograms of narcotics, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
The source at a MoI says a police team, on a tip-off, conducted a successful raid on May 16 and arrested Mehroj Latipov, who rented an apartment in Dushanbe and four other young men. “A large amount of narcotics, including nearly 3 kilograms of heroin, 1.8 kilograms of raw opium and more than 3 kilograms of cannabis, as well as used syringes and devices used for taking narcotics were found in the apartment,” he noted.
On the same day, Dushanbe resident Firdavs Kamolov was arrested on suspicion of having been involved in drug pushing. A package containing narcotic drug that tested positive to heroin weighing 1.6 kilograms 1.6 was confiscated from him, the source added.
