DUSHANBE, February 1, 2012, Asia-Plus -- On Tuesday January 31, Rustam Nazarov, Director of the Drug Control Agency (DCA) under the President of Tajikistan, met here with Riccardo Manara, Ambassador of Italy to Tajikistan with residence in Tashkent.
According to the DCA press center, Tajik drug control chief briefed Italian diplomat on the current drug situation in Tajikistan and neighboring Afghanistan as well as interaction between the law enforcement agencies of Tajikistan and neighboring countries in fighting drug trafficking in the region.
For his part, Mr. Manara noted that Italy attached significance to the fight against drug trafficking in the region and appreciated Tajik law enforcement agencies’ activities in this direction, the source said.
Italian diplomat reportedly noted that Italy would support Tajikistan’s efforts to combat drug trafficking in the future as well.
