DUSHANBE, January 8, 2013, Asia-Plus – The Interior Ministry has reported the seizure of a large amount of raw opium in Dushanbe.
On Monday January 7, officers from the Interior Ministry’s office for Dushanbe found three packages of narcotic drug that tested positive to raw opium weighing more than 21 kilograms in Daewoo-Nexia belonging to Dushanbe resident D.V., the source said.
The driver and his passenger were arrested on suspicion of having been involved in drug pushing; an investigation is under way.
Tajik law enforcement authorities reportedly seized 5,978 kilograms of narcotics in 2012.
