DUSHANBE, January 18, 2013, Asia-Plus -- An operation carried out by police officers in the Shouroobod district, Khatlon province on January 16 led to the arrest of Afghan drug peddler, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
Four sacks of narcotic drug that tested positive to cannabis weighing 65.5 kilograms were confiscated from him, an official source at a MoI said.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained drug trafficker and an investigation is under way.
Last year, Tajik law enforcement authorities reportedly seized some 6,000 kilograms of narcotics. A totaled included 515 kilograms of heroin, 630 kilograms of raw opium, and 4,800 kilograms of cannabis, the source said.
