DUSHANBE, April 2, 2013, Asia-Plus – Officers from the Interior Ministry transportation police directorate reportedly seized a large amount of hashish in Dushanbe on April 1.
An official source at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) says 73 kilograms of hashish were found hidden in Opel-Astra belonging to resident of the Farkhor district, Khatlon province.
The driver and his passenger – resident of the city of Qurghon Teppa – were arrested on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking.
“The preliminary investigation has established that the detained drug peddlers purchased the hashish from Afghan national temporarily residing in the Roudaki district,” said the source. “Besides, two other residents of Khatlon province have been arrested on suspicion of having been involved in that crime.”
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained drug traffickers and an investigation is under way.
