DUSHANBE, April 5, 2013, Asia-Plus -- Sixteen officers of the Customs Service from the capital and Khatlon province participated in a four-day training on Supply Chain Security including Risk Analysis, organized by the EU-UNDP Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA) jointly with the International Center for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), press release issued by the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Tajikistan on April 5 said.
During the training two experts from the European Union (Latvia and Lithuania) reportedly provided officers, who are in charge of supervising customs clearance procedures at an operational level, with an overview of risk management procedures at various levels.
The trainers shared the experiences and the structures of the custom procedures in the European Union, as well as the role of cooperation and its importance for the neighboring countries.
Furthermore, the participants got familiar with the newest X-Ray equipment, which EU customs services make use of.
The overall objectives of BOMCA are to help increase security in the Central Asian region, to contribute toward the facilitation of legitimate trade and transit, and to reduce the illicit movement of goods and people.
The BOMCA Programme is funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP with ICMPD as an implementing partner.
