DUSHANBE, November 22, 2013, Asia-Plus – Rustam Nazarov, Director of the Drug Control Agency (DCA) under the President of Tajikistan, yesterday met here with Mr. James Callahan, Senior
Program Manager, Office of Europe and Asia, Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, United States Department of State.
According to the DCA press center, the sides discussed issues related to assistance provided by the Government of the United States to Tajik counternarcotics agency and the process of implementation of the UNODC project, Tajikistan Drug Control Agency, Phase III.
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has decided to extend the project until the end of 2016.
Rustam Nazarov reportedly informed James Callahan about activities of Tajik counternarcotics agency. The sides also discussed the issues of continuation of work of Tajik DCA liaison officers.
Tajik drug control chief noted that DCA is expected to host an informal meeting of heads of counternarcotics agencies from Central Asia’s nations, Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, China, the United States, Turkey, Russia and the European Union on November 29.
