DUSHANBE, December 13, 2013, Asia-Plus -- Two criminal groups involved in smuggling narcotics out of Afghanistan into Tajikistan were recently broken up, the State Committee for National Security (SCNS)’s press center reported on December 13.
Head of the Madinai Munavvara Firm Daler Gadoyev, former border officer Mahmoudbek Mirzoyev and private entrepreneur Davlatbek Akurzabekov were reportedly arrested in Dushanbe on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking. Some 19 kilograms of hashish were confiscated from them.
Another operation carried out by security officers in the Panj district, Khatlon province led to the seizure of 19 kilograms of cannabis. One Afghan drug trafficker was killed and another one was arrested in that operation, the source said.
