DUSHANBE, December 23, 2013, Asia-Plus – A multiphase operation by officers from the Drug Control Agency under the President of Tajikistan (DCA) has reportedly led to the seizure of 93 kilograms of narcotics.
During the first phase carried out in Dushanbe, two kilograms of raw opium have been seized in a narcotics controlled purchase operation, according to the DCA press center.
The second phase of the operation has been carried out in the Shouroobod district, Khatlon province. More than 91 kilograms of cannabis, one RGD-5 hand grenade and five Kalashnikov assault rifle bullets have been confiscated from a local resident.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained drug peddlers and an investigation is under way.
