DUSHANBE, January 3, 2014, Asia-Plus – A multi-stage operation carried out by officers from the Drug Control Agency under the President of Tajikistan (DCA) ended on December 31 with the seizure of 20 kilograms of narcotics, according to the DCA press center.
Besides, an Afghan drug trafficker was killed during the final stage of the operation that was carried out jointly with border guards in the Farkhor district in the night of December 31.
Twenty packages of narcotic drug that tested positive to hashish weighing 12 kilograms were found on the spot.
Besides, Tajik national, 50, who was reportedly leader of that criminal group, was arrested in the northern province of Sughd on December 31. 8 kilograms of hashish were found hidden in his home.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted and an investigation is under way, the source said.
