DUSHANBE, April 27, 2014, Asia-Plus -- Officers from the State Committee for National Security (SCNS)’s office in the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) have prevented smuggling of large amount of heroin into the Darvoz district, the SCNS press center reported on April 26.
A special operation carried out by security officers near the village of Roghak reportedly led to the discovery of a drug smuggling channel.
“Afghan drug dealers felt ambush made by security officers and returned to the Afghan territory, leaving some 35 kilograms of heroin and 17 kilograms of cannabis on the Tajik bank of the Panj River,” the source said.
